PPSSPP Gold vs free: what’s the difference?
Honestly, almost nothing in how games run. Both versions use the same emulator with the same features. You mainly pay to support development.
| Feature | PPSSPP (free) | PPSSPP Gold |
|---|---|---|
| Game compatibility & speed | Same | Same |
| HD upscaling, save states, turbo, controllers | Yes | Yes |
| Gold icon | No | Yes |
| Supports the developer | No | Yes |
Buy Gold if PPSSPP gives you hours of fun and you want to keep it updated. If money is tight, the free version plays your games just as well.
Cracked Gold APKs give you nothing extra over the free version, but they can carry malware or adware. Get PPSSPP only from Google Play, the App Store or ppsspp.org. Also note that PPSSPP doesn’t come with games: play backups of PSP games (ISO or CSO) that you own.
